Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about natural vitamin E — from manufacturing process to regulatory compliance, from IU conversion to packaging options.

1. What is natural vitamin E? +

Natural vitamin E is d-alpha-tocopherol (RRR-form), the most biologically active form of vitamin E, naturally extracted from vegetable oil deodorizer distillate (DOD) — a byproduct of edible oil refining. It is identified by its specific rotation of ≥+24°. Natural vitamin E has approximately twice the bioavailability of synthetic vitamin E (dl-alpha-tocopherol). Worldbestve extracts natural Vitamin E from soybean oil DOD using molecular distillation technology.

2. What is the difference between natural and synthetic vitamin E? +

Natural vitamin E (d-alpha-tocopherol, RRR-form) has approximately twice the bioavailability of synthetic vitamin E (dl-alpha-tocopherol, all-rac-form). Key differences:

  • Stereochemistry: Natural Vitamin E is a single RRR stereoisomer; synthetic Vitamin E is a mixture of 8 stereoisomers (only 12.5% is RRR)
  • Specific rotation: Natural ≥+24°; synthetic near-zero
  • IU conversion: 1mg natural d-alpha-tocopherol = 1.49 IU; 1mg synthetic dl-alpha = 1.10 IU
  • Regulatory recognition: FDA, EU, and Codex all recognize natural-source Vitamin E as superior in biological activity
  • Source: Natural Vitamin E is physically extracted from vegetable oils; synthetic Vitamin E is chemically synthesized from petrochemicals
3. What are mixed tocopherols used for? +

Mixed tocopherols (containing d-alpha, d-beta, d-gamma, and d-delta tocopherols) are primarily used as natural antioxidants in food, pet food, and feed applications. They are approved as food additives in China (GB 2760, CNS 04.016), USA (GRAS), and EU (E306).

Key applications:

  • Replacing synthetic antioxidants (TBHQ, BHA, BHT) in clean-label food products
  • Extending shelf life of fats, oils, baked goods, and fried foods
  • Pet food natural antioxidant (preferred over BHA/BHT for premium pet food)
  • Animal feed antioxidant

Typical usage levels: 0.01%-0.05% in fats and oils. Worldbestve offers 50%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 95% concentrations.

4. What is d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate used for? +

D-alpha-tocopheryl acetate is the esterified form of natural vitamin E. The acetate group protects the free hydroxyl group, making it more stable against oxidation during storage and processing. After ingestion, it is hydrolyzed in vivo to release active d-alpha-tocopherol.

Applications: Dietary supplements, food fortification (modified milk powder, vegetable oils), pharmaceutical formulations, and stable-form cosmetic products. Worldbestve offers grades from 1100 to 1360 IU/g.

5. What is d-alpha-tocopheryl succinate used for? +

D-alpha-tocopheryl acid succinate is the only solid-form vitamin E derivative, appearing as a white crystalline powder. This makes it ideal for tablet compression and solid dosage form manufacturing.

Applications:

  • Solid dietary supplements (tablets, hard capsules)
  • Pharmaceutical formulations for Vitamin E deficiency treatment
  • Nutritional fortification
  • Anti-tumor research (d-alpha-tocopheryl succinate has been studied for potential anti-tumor properties)

Worldbestve offers 1185 IU/g and 1210 IU/g grades.

6. How is natural vitamin E manufactured? +

Natural vitamin E is extracted from vegetable oil deodorizer distillate (DOD), a byproduct of edible oil refining. The process involves:

  1. Pretreatment of DOD
  2. Esterification/trans-esterification to convert triglycerides to methyl esters
  3. Molecular distillation to concentrate tocopherols
  4. Further purification to isolate d-alpha-tocopherol from the mixed tocopherol fraction
  5. PAHs removal (Worldbestve's proprietary step) to ensure EU compliance

The entire process uses physical separation — no chemical synthesis is involved. This is why natural Vitamin E is classified as a natural product.

7. What is the IU conversion for vitamin E? +

International Unit (IU) conversion for different forms of vitamin E:

  • 1mg d-alpha-tocopherol (natural) = 1.49 IU
  • 1mg d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (natural) = 1.36 IU
  • 1mg d-alpha-tocopheryl succinate (natural) = 1.21 IU
  • 1mg dl-alpha-tocopherol (synthetic) = 1.10 IU
  • 1mg dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (synthetic) = 1.00 IU

Natural d-alpha-tocopherol has the highest IU per milligram.

8. Is Worldbestve's vitamin E Non-GMO certified? +

Yes. Worldbestve's natural vitamin E products are certified Non-GMO through IP (Identity Preservation) certification. The raw material (soybean oil deodorizer distillate) is sourced from Non-GMO soybeans. This is verified by third-party certification and documented on every Certificate of Analysis (COA).

The Non-GMO IP certification ensures full traceability from raw material to finished product — essential for customers in the EU, Japan, and premium supplement markets.

9. What certifications does Worldbestve have? +

Worldbestve holds the following certifications:

  • ISO 9001 — Quality Management System
  • HACCP — Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (food safety)
  • Kosher certification
  • Halal certification

10. What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for natural vitamin E? +

The minimum order quantity for Worldbestve's natural vitamin E products is 10kg. For specific products like d-alpha-tocopherol, larger orders are typically shipped in standard drums (20kg or 25kg per drum).

For larger orders, we offer competitive tiered pricing. Please contact our sales team at sales@worldbestve.com for a detailed quotation based on your specific product, grade, and quantity requirements.

11. How do you ensure PAHs compliance for the EU market? +

Worldbestve uses proprietary PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) removal technology to ensure our natural vitamin E products comply with EU standards.

PAHs are potentially harmful compounds that can be present in vegetable oil-derived products. Our purification process specifically removes PAHs to levels well below EU regulatory limits. Every batch is tested by GC-MS and documented on the COA.

This technology was a key breakthrough that made us one of the first Chinese Vitamin E manufacturers to successfully enter the European market — and it remains a key differentiator today.

12. What packaging options are available? +

Worldbestve offers multiple packaging options depending on the product:

  • Liquid products (d-alpha-tocopherol, mixed tocopherols): 20kg, 50kg, and 200kg iron drums
  • Tocopheryl acetate: 25kg plastic drums and 200kg iron drums
